Spokane, North Idaho honors veterans in celebrations, parades
Veterans in Spokane and north Idaho will be remembered Friday with concerts, talks, a parade, a dance, special ceremonies and meals, according to the Spokesman Review.
November 11 is remembered as the day hostilities officially ended in World War I, and is known in other countries as Armistice Day.
On this day, we remember the sacrifices made by all of America's veterans. Because of men like Grove Schoolcraft of Sandpoint, ID who served in the Navy during World War 2, and his younger brother, Clifford, of Hayden Lake, who served in the 439th Construction Engineer Battalion in Korea, we have freedoms people in other countries can only dream about.
“Today, we pay tribute to those brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform.We also honor the enduring service of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen. Whether during peacetime or war, at home or abroad, their service has been characterized by selflessness and a sense of greater purpose," said Rep Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) in prepared remarkes delivered Friday.

Veterans’ Voices Panel – Noon-1 p.m., Jepson Center for the School of Business Administration, Room 006, Gonzaga University. A panel of veterans who have returned from active duty within the past five years and an expert who works with female soldiers will discuss homecoming experiences. Part of Gonzaga’s Veterans Oral History Project, which is gathering stories of service personnel returning from war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Free.
